Sad news from Stitch Magazine

Two weeks ago I got a very sad email from Stitch Magazine. Their winter 2015 issue will be their last, due to an "increasingly challenging publishing environment". Stitch became my favorite sewing magazine when I came across one of their issues at a big-box fabric store in 2009 (pictured above). Their issues came out twice a year back then. Soon it was four times a year (yay!) and I remember going to the fabric store every so often just to check if the latest issue was in. I just couldn't wait until they offered a subscription service, but it took several years before they finally did.

It was love at first sight with Stitch. I had never seen such bright fabric and fun modern designs! Actually, it was Stitch that introduced me to the modern quilting movement. While I've sewn for as long as I can remember, I had no interest in quilting until I saw what modern quilters were doing... so much more my style! It was Stitch that opened my eyes to this whole other world of quilting and sewing, and provided so much inspiration for the last 7 years. I'm really really bummed.

Farewell old friend. I don't know if I will ever find a decent replacement.
